Stocks Virginia Mixed.  Perfect for plugging gaps at the front of borders! These quick and easy hardy annuals make an excellent standby, flowering just 4 weeks from sowing. Commonly called Virginia Stock, this colourful mix is a lovely blend of Malcolmia maritima seeds in lilac, pink and white shades. This hardy annual boasts a fabulous, rich perfume and makes a great planting partner for Night Scented stocks (Matthiola incana). These bushy little plants offer excellent value in the garden, flowering over a long period and filling the air with fragrance. For the longest lasting display, sow Virginia Stock in succession, every few weeks.

How to Sow

Direct sow Virginia Stock seeds outdoors where they are to grow from March to May. Choose a position in full sun on any well drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly, at a depth of 6mm (¼in) in drills spaced 15cm (6”) apart and cover the seed with its own depth of soil to exclude light. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Germination usually takes 14 – 21 days. When Virginia Stock seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 15cm (6”) apart.
