A vigorous but exceptionally manageable variety due to the thorn free branches making maintenance simple.
For best results, plant in half shade or full sun although Merton will tolerate shade and soil with less than efficient drainage.
Hardy but can be vulnerable to hard frosts on very exposed sites.
